Specialised IVF Services

For HIV Positive Patients

Can I receive IVF treatment
even with HIV?

We have the specialist technology and knowledge needed to help you safely grow your family, even if you are HIV positive.

We strongly believe that HIV-positive parents deserve an opportunity to have a family like anyone else. With us, there are no barriers to medical services – including fertility treatments and pregnancy care. The latest advances in Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) and sperm washing techniques means IVF can be performed safely and without the risk of passing the virus on.

As an example, one of the most common HIV-specific fertility treatments for HIV-positive men is known as “sperm washing.” This is a procedure that isolates sperm cells from the rest of the semen since HIV floats as free viral particles, and does not infect the actual sperm cells themselves. Additionally, we can use multiple regimens of drug treatments to suppress HIV to undetectable levels, making the transmission of the virus incredibly unlikely.

We take every step possible to ensure the safety and health of both the child and the intended parents. All HIV positive intended parents go through a rigorous health screening process before treatment begins, including the submission of medical records documenting at least six months of viral load and a complete infectious disease screening process.
